HVAC technician resume
HVAC employers want to know three things quickly: are you certified to handle refrigerant, what systems do you work on, and can customers trust you in their home or building?
1. Lead with EPA 608 and licenses
Give your EPA Section 608 type (Type I, II, III or Universal) and any state or local license with its level. NATE or manufacturer certifications can go on the same line.
2. Say residential, commercial, or both
Split rooftop units, heat pumps, boilers, chillers, and controls. Name the systems you service without supervision.
3. Install vs. service
Many techs lean one way. Say which, plus anything you do for the other: "Primarily service; assisted on about 40 change-out installs."
4. Customer-facing work matters
HVAC techs go into homes and businesses. Mention explaining repairs clearly, keeping work areas clean, and any customer satisfaction recognition you've actually received.
5. Use honest numbers
Calls per day in season, maintenance agreements serviced, or a callback rate you know are all useful.
Fictional sample
Fictional example: "Jamal Carter" isn't a real person. Every name, employer, number and date below is made up to illustrate the advice. It isn't a customer's resume.

An honest note: we use AI to help
We use AI writing tools to help draft and format your resume. A real person reads, checks and edits every page before it reaches you.
- We never make anything up: no invented jobs, dates, degrees, licenses or skills. If something is unclear, we ask you.
- We take out your phone number, email and street address before using any AI tool and put them back at the end.
- You can ask us to delete your information at any time. See our privacy note.
What we won't do
- We will never ask for passwords, PINs, bank or card numbers, or your Social Security number. Please don't send them. Anyone who asks you for these is not us.
- We don't log into job websites or accounts for you.
- We don't give legal, medical, or financial advice, and we don't make those decisions for you.
- We can't promise you'll get a job or an interview. Nobody honestly can.
