Service advisor resume
Service advisors sit between the customer and the shop. A good resume shows you can do both sides: explain repairs clearly, and keep the shop's schedule and paperwork straight.
1. Lead with customers and communication
Describe how many customers you handle on a typical day, how you explain repairs, and how you handle complaints. Concrete details beat "excellent people skills."
2. Show the paperwork side
Repair orders, estimates, warranty claims, parts ordering, and scheduling are core duties. Name the shop or dealer management software you've used.
3. Be careful with sales numbers
Many advisors are measured on hours per repair order or customer satisfaction scores. If you list them, they should be real numbers you can explain. Never imply pressure-selling. Shops value advisors customers trust.
4. Mention technical background if you have it
Former techs make strong advisors. "5 years as a line tech before moving to the drive" tells a manager you understand what you're quoting. The ASE C1 Automobile Service Consultant test is worth listing if you've passed it.
5. Show calm under pressure
Mornings at a service drive are busy. An example of keeping a full schedule moving, or handling a difficult situation fairly, is worth a bullet.

An honest note: we use AI to help
We use AI writing tools to help draft and format your resume. A real person reads, checks and edits every page before it reaches you.

- We take out your phone number, email and street address before using any AI tool and put them back at the end.
- You can ask us to delete your information at any time. See our privacy note.
What we won't do
- We will never ask for passwords, PINs, bank or card numbers, or your Social Security number. Please don't send them. Anyone who asks you for these is not us.
- We don't log into job websites or accounts for you.
- We don't give legal, medical, or financial advice, and we don't make those decisions for you.
- We can't promise you'll get a job or an interview. Nobody honestly can.
