Resume for retirees going part-time
A part-time or seasonal job doesn't need your whole career on paper. A short, clear resume that shows reliability and the right strengths works better.
1. One page is plenty
Show your most relevant roles and summarize the rest in a line. Employers hiring for part-time work mostly want to know you're dependable and good with people.
2. State your availability up front
"Available weekday mornings and Saturdays" or "Seasonal, November–January" saves everyone time.
3. Match strengths to the job
Libraries, garden centers, tax-season offices, school offices, and museums each want different things. Lead with what fits: customer service, cash handling, organization, or teaching.
4. Say why, briefly, if you like
A summary such as "Retired bank branch manager looking for part-time customer-facing work" explains your situation in a positive way.
5. Leave off what isn't needed
Your graduation year, a long list of old jobs, and anything about retirement income or plans can all stay off the page.

An honest note: we use AI to help
We use AI writing tools to help draft and format your resume. A real person reads, checks and edits every page before it reaches you.
- We never make anything up: no invented jobs, dates, degrees, licenses or skills. If something is unclear, we ask you.
- We take out your phone number, email and street address before using any AI tool and put them back at the end.
- You can ask us to delete your information at any time. See our privacy note.
What we won't do
- We will never ask for passwords, PINs, bank or card numbers, or your Social Security number. Please don't send them. Anyone who asks you for these is not us.
- We don't log into job websites or accounts for you.
- We don't give legal, medical, or financial advice, and we don't make those decisions for you.
- We can't promise you'll get a job or an interview. Nobody honestly can.
