Google profile description: auto repair shop
Drivers looking for a repair shop want to know three things: do you work on my car, can I trust you, and how soon can you see me. A good description answers all three in plain words.
1. Name the makes and the work
"Domestic and Asian makes", "European specialists", "light trucks and diesel pickups". Then the jobs you do most: brakes, check-engine diagnostics, A/C, tires and alignments, state inspections if you're licensed for them.
2. Mention certifications you actually hold
ASE-certified technicians or an ASE Blue Seal shop status are trust signals. Only include them if they're current.
3. Describe your warranty without numbers you'd advertise
Google doesn't want prices or promotions in the description. A factual line like "We stand behind our repairs with a written parts and labor warranty" is fine. Put the details on your website or invoice.
4. Give practical shop details
Waiting room, shuttle, early drop-off, loaner cars, or texting estimates with photos. These are the small things that make people pick one shop over another.
5. Set the right category
"Auto repair shop" is the usual primary category. Add secondary ones only for services you really offer, such as "Brake shop" or "Tire shop".
Fictional before and after
Fictional before and after. Everything below is made up: every name, business, number and date is invented to illustrate the advice. It isn't from a real customer.
Northgate Auto Care is a made-up business. Here's a fictional profile description, rewritten to Google's guidelines.
Before (148 characters):
NORTHGATE AUTO CARE - BEST MECHANICS IN TOWN!!! Oil changes $29.99 this month only. Visit www.northgateauto.example for coupons. We fix everything!!
After (584 of 750 characters; no links, prices or promotions):
Northgate Auto Care is a family-owned repair shop serving the Northgate neighborhood since 2006. We repair domestic and Asian cars, SUVs and light trucks, including brakes, check-engine diagnostics, A/C, suspension, tires and alignments, and factory-scheduled maintenance. Our ASE-certified technicians explain what your car needs, and what can wait, before any work starts, and we text estimates with photos so you can approve repairs from work. Early drop-off and a key box are available, and we stand behind our repairs with a written warranty. Comfortable waiting area with Wi-Fi.
What changed: removed the all-caps claim, the price and promotion, and the link (all against Google's description rules). Added makes, services, a real trust signal, and practical shop details.

An honest note: we use AI to help
We use AI writing tools to help draft your write-up. A real person reads, checks and edits every word before it reaches you.
- We never make anything up: no invented awards, years in business, licenses, reviews, customer quotes or "#1" claims. Everything comes from you, and we ask when something is unclear.
- We write to Google's published guidelines (for example, no links, prices or promotions in the description), but Google decides what appears on its own platform.
- You can ask us to delete your information at any time. See our privacy note.
What we won't do
- We will never log in to your Google account or any other account, and we never ask for manager access, passwords or verification codes. You paste the text in yourself.
- We never ask for bank or card numbers or your Social Security number.
- We don't write fake reviews, buy reviews, or suggest swapping discounts for reviews. That's against Google's policies.
- We don't promise rankings, calls or more customers. Nobody honestly can.
- We don't give legal, tax or financial advice.
