Google profile description: hair salon or barbershop

Salon and barbershop customers care about style, specialty, and how easy it is to get in. Your description is a chance to sound like your shop.

1. Name your specialties

Color correction, curly and textured hair, balayage, kids' cuts, fades and beard work, hot-towel shaves, bridal styling. Pick the things you're genuinely known for.

2. Explain walk-ins and booking

"Walk-ins welcome on weekdays; appointments recommended Saturdays" saves customers a call. Mention online booking without adding a link to the description.

3. Mention the team

The number of stylists or barbers, languages spoken, and years in the neighborhood make the shop feel real.

4. Include accessibility and comfort

Step-free entrance, parking, a quiet hour, or a kid-friendly chair. Use Google's attributes as well as the description.

5. Keep prices in the services list or menu

Prices belong in your services or menu section (where Google allows them), not the description.

Fictional examples

Fictional examples. Everything below is made up: every name, business, number and date is invented to illustrate the advice. It isn't from a real customer.

Fade & Shave on Main is a made-up business. Here's a fictional profile description, rewritten to Google's guidelines.

After (480 of 750 characters; no links, prices or promotions):

Fade & Shave on Main is a neighborhood barbershop in downtown Hamilton with four experienced barbers. We specialize in skin fades, tapers, beard shaping and hot-towel straight-razor shaves, and we're patient with first haircuts for kids. Walk-ins are welcome Monday to Friday; appointments are recommended on Saturdays. Our barbers speak English and Spanish. The shop has a step-free entrance and street parking out front. Come in for a clean cut, a good conversation and no rush.

Second fictional example, a salon (381 of 750 characters):

Willow Room Salon is a calm, appointment-based hair studio in Old Town with five stylists. We're known for lived-in color, balayage, color correction and cuts for curly and textured hair. Every new guest gets a consultation before we begin, so we can plan the right look for your hair and routine. Bridal and event styling is available by request. Free parking behind the building.

Note: "Free parking" describes an amenity, not a promotion, so it's fine in a description.
