Google profile description: handyman service
Handyman customers usually have a list of small jobs and one question: will you come out for this? Your description should make the answer obvious, and be clear about what needs a licensed pro.
1. Give examples of jobs
Drywall patches, door and lock repairs, shelves and TV mounting, furniture assembly, caulking, minor carpentry, gutter cleaning, grab bars. Examples beat "we do it all".
2. Say what you don't do
Many states and towns limit what handymen can do without a license (often electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or jobs over a set dollar amount). "For larger electrical or plumbing work, we'll refer you to a licensed contractor" is honest and builds trust.
3. Welcome small jobs
If you have a minimum visit, mention it in your services section, not with a price in the description. "Happy to tackle a whole list in one visit" is a nice touch.
4. Mention safety-minded work for older homeowners
Grab bars, railings, brighter lighting, and smoke-alarm battery swaps are common requests. Say so if you do them.
5. Be clear about insurance
"Fully insured" only if it's true and current.
Fictional before and after
Fictional before and after. Everything below is made up: every name, business, number and date is invented to illustrate the advice. It isn't from a real customer.
Two Hands Home Repair is a made-up business. Here's a fictional profile description, rewritten to Google's guidelines.
Before (71 characters):
Handyman. No job too big or small! Licensed for everything. Call today.
After (538 of 750 characters; no links, prices or promotions):
Two Hands Home Repair is a one-person handyman service run by Sam Becker, serving Bloomington and Normal. I handle the small jobs on your list: drywall patches, sticking doors and locks, shelves, curtain rods and TV mounting, furniture assembly, caulking and minor carpentry. I also install grab bars and stair railings for homeowners who want to stay safe at home. I'm insured, I show up when I say I will, and I clean up before I leave. For larger electrical, plumbing or structural work, I'll gladly refer you to a licensed contractor.
What changed: "Licensed for everything" and "No job too big" were replaced with specific jobs and an honest line about work that needs a licensed trade.

An honest note: we use AI to help
We use AI writing tools to help draft your write-up. A real person reads, checks and edits every word before it reaches you.
- We never make anything up: no invented awards, years in business, licenses, reviews, customer quotes or "#1" claims. Everything comes from you, and we ask when something is unclear.
- We write to Google's published guidelines (for example, no links, prices or promotions in the description), but Google decides what appears on its own platform.
- You can ask us to delete your information at any time. See our privacy note.
What we won't do
- We will never log in to your Google account or any other account, and we never ask for manager access, passwords or verification codes. You paste the text in yourself.
- We never ask for bank or card numbers or your Social Security number.
- We don't write fake reviews, buy reviews, or suggest swapping discounts for reviews. That's against Google's policies.
- We don't promise rankings, calls or more customers. Nobody honestly can.
- We don't give legal, tax or financial advice.
