Google Business Profile posts: 10 ideas
Posts are short updates that appear on your profile. They're a simple way to show you're open, active and helpful. You don't need many, but they should be real. Here are ten ideas, each with a fictional example.
1. Keep posts short and useful
A photo, two to four sentences, and a button if it fits (Call, Learn more, Book). One or two good posts a month is plenty for most small businesses.
2. Use real photos
Your shop, your team, your work. Stock photos look generic. Get permission before posting photos of customers or their property.
3. Offers go in posts, not the description
If you run a seasonal special, an offer post is the right place for it. Make the terms clear, and honor them.
4. Never post fake reviews or testimonials
Don't write customer quotes yourself or post "reviews" as updates. Let real reviews speak for themselves.
5. Reuse what you write
The same post can go on Facebook, Nextdoor, or your shop window. Write it once.
Fictional examples
Fictional examples. Everything below is made up: every name, business, number and date is invented to illustrate the advice. It isn't from a real customer.
All businesses, people and details below are made up.
- Introduce yourself: "Hi, I'm Dave, owner of Keystone Plumbing & Heating. I've been fixing pipes in Lancaster County for 20 years, and my team and I look forward to helping you."
- Seasonal reminder: "Heating season is coming. A fall furnace check can catch small problems before the first cold night. Call to book."
- Behind the scenes: "6am at Hearth & Crumb: the first sourdough loaves coming out of the oven."
- Quick how-to: "Garbage disposal humming but not turning? Turn it off at the switch, then use the hex key on the bottom to free it. Still stuck? We can help."
- Meet the team: "Meet Lena, our newest stylist. She specializes in curly and textured cuts."
- Before and after work: "Before and after: a sagging gate rebuilt with new posts and hinges (photo shared with the homeowner's permission)."
- New service: "We now install grab bars and stair railings. Ask us when we're out for your next repair."
- Holiday hours: "We're closed Thanksgiving Day and open regular hours Friday."
- Event: "Join us Saturday 10–2 for our free bike safety check in the shop parking lot."
- Offer (with clear terms): "Spring cleanup bookings are open. New customers who book by April 15 get their first mow free. One per household."

An honest note: we use AI to help
We use AI writing tools to help draft your write-up. A real person reads, checks and edits every word before it reaches you.
- We never make anything up: no invented awards, years in business, licenses, reviews, customer quotes or "#1" claims. Everything comes from you, and we ask when something is unclear.
- We write to Google's published guidelines (for example, no links, prices or promotions in the description), but Google decides what appears on its own platform.
- You can ask us to delete your information at any time. See our privacy note.
What we won't do
- We will never log in to your Google account or any other account, and we never ask for manager access, passwords or verification codes. You paste the text in yourself.
- We never ask for bank or card numbers or your Social Security number.
- We don't write fake reviews, buy reviews, or suggest swapping discounts for reviews. That's against Google's policies.
- We don't promise rankings, calls or more customers. Nobody honestly can.
- We don't give legal, tax or financial advice.
